Villain Teaser

Ok... not even my wife and brother read my blog last week, but hey that's cool. I will continue to write this blog on the hope that someday you will all read this blog and go back and read the old ones.

As for our comic book venture...my hope is that eventually I can get a website set up that will work as both a meeting ground for comic afficianadoes and of course for this comic book company. I think one of the ideas that I am throwing around the most is a host of characters that are neither heroes nor villains. Not to be too "Watchmen"esque, but I feel that it is important to include books where the lines are not so black and white. The way I think I would approach it is more of a... what if you did not want to save the earth or destroy it? Would your powers and the fate that they carry force you into situations that you do not want to be in? And once in that situation what would you do... the "right" thing, the "wrong" thing, or whatever you wanted because you had the power to do so? I want to create a character that some people would call a villain and others would call a hero. So, that will probably be my next actual book idea.

What I think I will do is complete the first edition to three books. Not that I am sure that any of them will do well, nor do I wish to necessarily make them my "big three" like other companies, but more to provide a varied assortment to those who are going to judge this company. I need to get my wife on helping me to copyright my company name and get incorporated so that I can actually get the company portion off the ground. I will initially publish the written versions of the books, and then be looking for artists to come in and want to put their art to my words.

As for Gabrielle, I have several ideas for villains and will give the following teaser... with this having some religious tones; yes the major villains will be there, but not the way that you would expect. Also, to give you insight into my villains and to give you two of the most important in this book, I introduce Cain and Iago. Yes, both of these characters will appear in this book and they will be versions of the Cain and Iago we all know; Cain of course being of the story of Cain and Abel and Iago being the greatest literary villain of all time from the story of Othello. I will not give too much detail, but I will say that they are going to be the variables, the set of true villains that work for no one but themselves and with no motivation outside of the destruction of everyone else. They will be hate in its truest form. While I am a big proponent of conflicted heroes and villains, I also believe that they best villains in the world are those who are committed to destruction, with no reward. It is always scarier to run from the guy who will hurt you for the joy of hurting you instead of the guy who just wants your wallet.

I hope that was a good teaser. I do not know that I will blog again next week, between work and family I do not have a lot of spare time, and if I actually want to get this company off the ground I need to do some work on the books and so on. If you do read this blog, please tell your friends, the point of this company and particularly this part of the process is to bring in the pieces from the fans so that the company has a fan focus from its very roots.

Thanks for reading...

JP
